[ about ]
an independent lab at the water line.
what we are
Brackish Labs is a small, independent research effort focused on physical AI for the land-water boundary — tidal flats, shorelines, river mouths, shallow water.
We work in the open where we can, and we publish what we learn. We're more interested in the substrate than the robots; the robots are how we ask the substrate questions.
how we work
- Field first.Simulation is useful for ablations and sanity checks; it isn't the primary loop.
- Publish failures. Site-level failure modes are more useful than highlight reels, and they travel further.
- Open by default.Datasets, methods, and reference code go out unless there's a specific reason not to.
- Slow on hardware. We'd rather ship a platform that works in salt water for a season than a demo that works for an afternoon.
people
The lab is currently small and anonymous. We'll introduce people as they want to be introduced.
